Climate and Health Connect (CHC)

Somalia faces significant climate-induced challenges. Prolonged droughts, floods, and desertification have worsened public health crises, leaving many without access to clean water, sanitation, or basic healthcare. These

environmental impacts particularly affect vulnerable populations, especially women and children, deepening existing inequalities and hindering sustainable development. Climate and Health Connect in Somalia is dedicated to developing sustainable health and climate solutions that enhance the well-being of Somali communities. Our focus includes:

- Strengthening healthcare systems to ensure access to essential services, including mental health and maternal and child healthcare.

- Promoting clean water access, improving sanitation infrastructure, and implementing hygiene practices to prevent waterborne diseases.

- Supporting climate-smart initiatives, such as water conservation, sustainable agriculture, and the adoption of renewable energy solutions to build resilience against extreme weather events.

Our approach emphasizes community engagement, empowering local actors— particularly women and youth—to drive long- term change. Somalia's unique challenges, including extreme climate conditions, limited healthcare access, and the urgent need for sustainable solutions, require immediate and collaborative action. We invite partners—local organizations, government bodies, international donors, and civil society—to join us in building a healthier, more resilient Somalia.
