CHC works to improve health outcomes in vulnerable communities facing climate change in Kenya, particularly in arid and semi-arid lands (ASAL). They focus on promoting well-being and not just survival.
CHC combines medical expertise with cultural understanding and local knowledge. They promote evidence-based interventions and empower communities to address health challenges. Additionally, they advocate for collaboration across various sectors to create a more comprehensive approach.
Climate and Health Connect (CHC) CHC was founded by Kenyan Female professionals (i.e. medical doctors and an engineers) who are passionate about tackling climate change mitigation and human health among vulnerable and marginalised communities.
CHC is one of the few organizations in Kenya solely focused on the intersection of climate change and health, particularly in ASAL regions. Additionally, the founding team consisting of young female medical professionals sets them apart.
CHC prioritizes safeguarding the dignity and safety of all individuals. They believe in collaboration and advocating for a unified effort to address climate change's impact on health.
CHC recognizes the interconnectedness of various issues and advocates for collaboration across sectors like water, sanitation, food security, mental health, livelihood opportunities, and conflict resolution related to displacement.
